Kimpton Edward Johns
1957 ~ 2018
Kimpton Edward Johns (Kim) of Lethbridge beloved son, brother, Uncle and friend passed away after a short battle with cancer on November 16, 2018 at the age of 60yrs. Kim was predeceased by his Dad Lyal Johns.
Kim led a full and adventurous life, with a deep love for the outdoors, all of nature and it's wonders, especially fishing and rock hounding. He was an avid fly fisherman and had a knack for locating Ammolite, which he had a small collection. In his younger years, he was an accomplished Bull Rider and rode Saddle and Bareback Broncs on the Coors Pro Circuit. During that time, he also travelled with rodeo stock owned by the Cox family out of High Prairie working as a Bull Fighter.
Kim worked a variety of jobs early on, starting out with Buchanan Lumber as so many young people in High Prairie did. He later went to work for Spendiff Transport and obtained his Class 1 while working there. After that he drove, transport, logging and cattle liners for many years. Kim took a break from trucking, trained as a Medic, moved to the Crowsnest Pass to work, and was an active member of the Crowsnest Pass Rescue Squad. The road beckoned and he went back to trucking, primarily hauling livestock, owning his own truck during the late 90's. He also drove the infamous Ice Roads. Kim's final venture was of his own design, a unique Eavestroughing business primarily providing large-scale plans and installation on the Colonies around Southern Alberta and into Saskatchewan.
No matter what he undertook he was always respected for his compassionate caring heart, his honesty and unfailing gift of seeing the best in and putting others interests before his own. He loved a good laugh, a day on the river with no clocks, the company of loved ones, a good story, and a variety of music. He had a passion for history, especially that of the coming of age of Canada and the US, WWI, WWII, Vietnam and Korea.
Kim was a rare soul in our world so often marked with selfish cruelty. His steadfast kind, generous and loyal heart demonstrated his tremendous courage. Those who knew him well have memories of him stepping up to defend those not able to do defend themselves or standing beside one doing so. All women who knew Kim could be at ease in his presence as he was a gentleman through and through just like his Dad.
Kim had no children of his own, but he loved his nieces and nephews, children of friends and those he took under his wing. Many knew him as ""Uncle Kim"".
Heard from those paying their respects to his family:
""A truthful and honest man""
""Very sweet man""
""A nice caring man""
""A beautiful soul""
""He touched many lives""
""An awesome neighbor""
""Kindest most honest man I ever met""
""He will be missed""
""Proud to have known him""
""A good brother""
The words spoken, and the respect given after a person leaves the rest of us behind show the honor they deserve. Thank you for those words to those who spoke them, you have given honor and respect to a man who was powerful in his gentleness and unwavering refusal to participate in the cruelty of the world no matter what.
God Bless him and may he roam freely along the banks of the most beautiful rivers.
Kim leaves behind his Mom Lorraine Johns, Sister Sharie (Jim), Niece Kristin, Nephews Shaun and Michael (Tracy), Great Niece, Sarah, Great Nephews Jo and Sam and his dear friend Dana. There will be no Service at Kim's request. His ashes will join his Dad in the Family plot in Weyburn Saskatchewan.
