Official Obituary of

7/11/1920 - to - 9/9/2010

ROLAND (ROLLIE) LEVELLE JARDINE, beloved husband of the late Phyllis Jardine, passed away peacefully at Palliative Care on September 9, 2010 at the age of 89 years.

Rollie is survived by his 2 children Gerald of Vancouver B.C and daughter Barb (Bob) Bernie of Lethbridge, Ab; granddaughter Alanna Jardine of Prince George, B.C and his sweet baby girl Brandy the cat.

Besides his loving spouse Phyllis, Rollie is predeceased by his parents George and Laura Jardine as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Rollie had a love for animals and was predeceased by many of his special dogs and cats.

Rollie was born in Medicine Hat, AB on November 7, 1920 where his father was employed as a dispatcher with the CPR. They moved to Alderson, AB in 1924 where his father was the Station Agent. Rollie attended grades 1 to 6 in Alderson and the family then moved in 1932 to Calgary where his father was employed as a dispatcher. He attended public school in Calgary, Crescent Heights High School and Mount Royal College until 1941. He took a business course at Mount Royal and his proficiency in shorthand was the source of his lifetime career. He joined the R.C.A.F. May 1941 and served as a Court Reporter with the Judge Advocates Branch overseas in India and Brazil until his discharge in December 1945 in Montreal where he then worked in the criminal courts. He met Phyllis Greene in Edmonton in May 1945 and they were married in Edmonton on July 10, 1946. They lived in Montreal until May 1947when they moved to Calgary. He then worked at the Supreme Distict court as a court reporter until 1949 when they moved to Lethbridge where he was employed as the senior court reporter until his retirement in May 1982. He has been past president and or secretary of several local organizations in Lethbridge including; Alberta T.B. Association, Alberta Court Reporters Association, Kinsmen Association, Alberta Motor Association, and Crime Stoppers Association. He was a member of the Chinook Club, the Army Navy, Lethbridge Canadian Legion as well as a member of the K 40. He was active in the Masonic Lodge #39 for over 50 years and also a member of the Lethbridge Scottish Rite. He was also a long time member of the Al Azhar Shrine where he was very active with the Oriental Band, being recognized as the ""Arabian Knight"" who played the gong during many parades having to borrow his daughter Barb's 80's jewelry to complete his ensemble. Dad was a great storyteller and enjoyed gardening, golfing, reading, spending time with friends and his endless walks.

So please take time to smile and just remember some of those ""one-up"" and last word moments Rollie was so good at.
At Rollie's request the family will be celebrating his life at a private family service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2M7 or the Canadian Diabetes Association 210D, 12 A Street North, Lethbridge, AB T1H 2J1.
