Mabel passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Extendicare on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the age of 102 years. She was born in Haines, Oregon on December 18, 1905, the only child of Alonzo and Bertha Fidler. Mabel and her husband, Harold C. Hutchinson moved with their young family to the Warner area in 1934 and farmed there for many years, later retiring to Lethbridge. Mabel was always very involved in the life of her community. She was the last surviving charter member of the Ladies of the Royal Purple of Warner, a member of the Alberta Women's Institute in the 1930s and 1940s and the group leader of the Jolly Janes Girls' Club in Warner in the 1940s. She and Harold were long-time members of the Golden Miles Dancers in Lethbridge, dancing until they were well into their eighties, and entertaining residents of various senior centres and nursing homes in Southern Alberta. They spent many happy summers at their cabin in Waterton Park and were well-acquainted with all the good fishing spots in the area. Mabel was a very social person; she loved getting together with her large extended family and had a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.

Mabel was predeceased by her beloved husband Harold in July 1999, just a week before their seventy-third wedding anniversary. She was also predeceased by her dear daughter Leta Mae DePratu in March 2004. Mabel is lovingly remembered by her son Howard ""Bud"" (Gladys) Hutchinson, her daughter JoAnn Meisser (Don Peacock), son-in-law Cecil DePratu, grandchildren Jeff DePratu, Roberta (Michael) Hubbard, Carol Hutchinson, Ron (Gloria) Hutchinson, Rod (Ruth) Hutchinson, Tom (Wendy) Paterson, Jane Paterson (Uri Hess), Doug (Valerie) Paterson and Allister (Lynn) Paterson, fifteen great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the Extendicare staff and to Dr. Terry Longair and Dr. A McPherson for the kindness and care they provided to Mabel over the past number of years.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, with Dr. Carol Hutchinson (Mabel's granddaughter) officiating. Interment to follow at Archmount Cemetery.
