It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of MRS. MARJORIE VIOLET HUDSON, beloved wife of the late Kenneth Wentworth Hudson, at Piyami Place with her family by her side on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the age of 84 years.
Marjorie was born in Lethbridge on February 22, 1925 and raised on the family farm in the Iron Springs area. She married Ken Hudson on November 6, 1944. They moved to Shaughnessy in 1954 with their four children. She resided there until February of 2008 when she moved to Picture Butte Lodge, then the Place. Mom loved to garden, her beloved pets and most of all was always there for her family. She loved her children and grandchildren and spent many hours watching them. She led a simple life, worked hard, and was always there for a cup of tea, lunch or just a chat. She loved latch-hooking and did many pictures that were framed and hung throughout her house.
She was loving, caring and pleasant to be around right up to her passing. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Marjorie is survived by her daughters; Bessie (Rene) Desjardins of Cowley, Alberta and Pat (Steve) Bodnar of Shaughnessy, Alberta, and her son Larry (Sandy) Hudson of Shaughnessy, Alberta, as well as 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters; Kathleen Cook of Picture Butte, and Helen Davies of Lethbridge, her brothers; Jim (Dorothy) Powell of Creston, BC, Clarence Powell of Calgary, Bill (Isabel) Powell of Calgary and her brother-in-law Oliver Perry of High River, Alberta, along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
Besides her loving husband Ken Hudson and her son Melvin, she was predeceased by her parents Jim and Edith Powell, her sister Mildred Perry, her brothers-in-law Achiel Soenen, Chuck Davies and Charles Cook, as well as her sister-in-law Nell Powell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.
