Mrs. Jo-Ann Elizabeth Houthuys of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Garry Houthuys, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Center on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the age of 84 years.

Jo-Ann was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her family moved to Toronto in 1946 and then settled in Pickering in 1947. Jo- Ann went on to graduate as a nurse in 1963 and worked at Toronto General Hospital. Jo-Ann met and married Garry in 1974 and welcomed her son Andrew in 1979.

In 1983 Jo-Ann, Garry, and Andrew moved to Lethbridge. In 1987, Brandon joined the family. Jo-Ann went back to work in 1990 and put in over 20 years with Alberta Health Services.

In retirement, Jo-Ann volunteered at many places including 10 Thousand Villages, Meals on Wheels, and the gift shop at Lethbridge Regional hospital. Jo-Ann found gratification in helping with the many initiatives at Park Meadows Church.

Jo-Ann was a resilient woman, who loved gardening, travelling and enjoyed nature.

Jo-Ann is survived by her son Andrew (Laura); son Brandon; sister Irene (Raymond)

Jo-Ann was predeceased by her parents John and Irene Porter.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at PARK MEADOWS BAPTIST CHURCH, 2011 15 Ave N, Lethbridge, Alberta.
