Mrs. Jana Holzapfel (Ruzicka), at the age of 79, went home to be with the Lord on September 17, 2021. God saw mom getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered come live with me.   

Jana was born in Předměřice, Czechoslovakia on May 12, 1942. After WW2 Jana and her family immigrated to the USA in the summer of 1954. Then she met the love of her life Jim. They married in Grimsby, Ontario on July 27, 1959. 

In the late 1960's they moved to Aldergrove BC for a time, before getting back on the road. 

Besides her loving husband Vaclav Jim Holzapfel, Jana is predeceased by her son Tony Holzapfel (Dec 22, 1968); parents John and Francis Ruzicka; brothers Jim Ruzicka, Henry Ruzicka, Joe Ruzicka, Jon Ruzicka and sister Anna Ruzicka.

Jana is survived by her sons Jim (Shannon) Holzapfel, Frank (Cori) Holzapfel, Bohumil Holzapfel (Brenda Maclean) and Josef Holzapfel; daughter Helena Anna Holzapfel; sisters Mary Rotter, Francis Strombach, Georgina Ruzicka and Emily Krsek; brother Bill Ruzicka; grandchildren Anthony (Trisha) Holzapfel, Chris (Jessica) Holzapfel, Amara (Edward) Goodsell, Alishia Holzapfel, Jon (Heather) Holzapfel, Natasha (Lance) Wellman, Jessica Hudon, Christina Hudon, Reanna Holzapfel, Natalia Holzapfel, Daniel Holzapfel and Savanna Holzapfel; great grandchildren Dean Holzapfel, Mathew Holzapfel, Jon Holzapfel, Anthony Holzapfel, Ava Holzapfel, Leigha Wellman, Livia Holzapfel, Sophia Holzapfel, Ethan Holzapfel, Williamson Holzapfel, Lola Wellman, Layva Wellman, Noel Holzapfel, Wyatt Holzapfel, and Izabelle Goodsell.

To everyone Jana was Baba. Baba always had a strong faith in God, never ceasing to mention Christ in words of wisdom. Baba had a high regard for her children and her family. May she rest in peace.  

A Funeral Service will be held at 9:00 am, on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, Lethbridge, Alberta, 610-4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

Interment will follow at Royal View Cemetery.
