It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and Brother. Heinz Herman Briegert passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Chinook Regional Hospital on August 28th 2011 at the age of 81 years.

Heinz was born in Germany on August 6th 1930. As the youngest of 8 children Heinz had many responsibilities. He helped take care of his mother and family after his father left for the war.

As a young man Heinz took his apprenticeship as a finishing carpenter. He met the love of his life Adina and they married in 1951. The young couple immigrated to Canada and started their family in Regina, SK. While living in Saskatchewan, Heinz spent 15 years working for the CP Rail. The couple later moved to Lethbridge in 1968 and settled on the north side. Heinz worked for Sawilla Renovations for many years.

After his retirement, Heinz kept busy working on projects in his shop. He made beautifully handcrafted furniture pieces which he sold at local craft sales. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved fishing and was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed him.

Heinz mourned the passing of his wife in 2004. Although he was never the same after losing her, he continued to live each day to his full potential.

Heinz is survived by his children Veronica (Glen) Choboter, Wilfred Briegert, Margaret (Donald) Romaniuk, Carl Briegert and Shannon Briegert (Grandaughter), as well as 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Heinz was an exceptional man. He taught his family to have strong faith and strong values. Although he will be missed immensely, we take comfort in knowing that he is finally reunited with his wife and with God.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, September 2, 2011at the IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd West, Lethbridge, with Pastor Nathan Fuehrer officiating. Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.
