Phil Heilman

1944 ~ 2018

Mr. Phil Heilman of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Mrs. Priscilla Heilman, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at the age of 74 years.

Phil was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1944. He moved to Alberta in 1963 to work construction on a CPR line in Fort Macleod, where he met and married Priscilla in 1965. After moving to Lethbridge, Phil worked at Canada Packers for 30 years until the plant closed in 1991. He then capitalized on his employment of wood working and started his own business called “Phil’s Construction”. His business flourished, and he was always busy until injury forced him to retire in 2006. In retirement, Phil spent time at home with family, as well as weekly coffee outings with his friends. He was able to do some travelling to Alaska which he thoroughly enjoyed. When not working, Phil always enjoyed being in and outdoors as he loved hunting, fishing, camping and telling stories around the campfire. Phil had an incredibly wide and varied circle of friends that he always enjoyed spending time with and was always the first to offer a helping hand whenever he could.

Besides his loving wife, Priscilla Heilman, Phil is survived by his daughters, Maria (Warren) Rowntree and Sherry (Kirk) Moffat; son, Darren (Kirsten) Heilman; grandchildren, Jeff, Kelsey, Randi (Devon), Laura (James), Megan, Dustin, Taylor, Michael and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Aspen; sister, Fran (Alfred) Gomersal; brother, Joe (Leona), Jerome, Fred (Joyce), Clarence and Cliff (Lena); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families.

Phil was predeceased by his parents, Balzer and Christina and his sister, Christine.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 at the MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street S., Lethbridge, Alberta.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, 1A129, 960 – 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 1W5
