Lloyd D. Hatt

1917 ~ 2013

Lloyd Dennis Hatt was born in Wadsworth, Ohio on October 21, 1917 the second son of Albert & Edna Hatt. After high school, Lloyd graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and worked as an electrician for Goodyear Aircraft.

Lloyd and his first wife had a son, Gary, but in 1946 Doris passed away. At the time, he was serving in the U.S. Navy (1944-46). In 1948 Lloyd married Henrietta Berryman, in Orrville, Ohio. They continued to live in Ohio moving from Delphos to Lexington and adding three siblings for Gary.

In 1958, Lloyd packed up the family and moved to Lethbridge, Alberta to help start a new seed processing company called Western Canadian Seed Processors, which later became Canbra Foods. The family immediately became active members of the Central Church of Christ where Lloyd served as treasurer for 20 years and as an elder for over 33 years. At Canbra Foods, Lloyd was a director in the company and Vice President of Engineering and Maintenance until his retirement February 1, 1978.

After his retirement Lloyd kept busy as a member of Kiwanis, volunteering whenever he was needed. He was an avid golfer, bowler, softball player, bridge player and traveler. He and Henrietta made several trips to Australia and visited New Zealand, Europe, India, Kuwait, China and loved cruising on the QE II. With age, Lloyd became less physically active but still kept up with his email, crossword puzzles, Sudoku, Toronto Blue Jays and facebook.

Lloyd is survived by his four children, Gary (Alice) Hatt of Calgary, Alberta, Linda Hatt (Piotr Kossowski) of Kelowna, British Columbia, Rick (Suzanne) Hatt of Stoney Plain, Alberta and Dennis (Trudy) Hatt of Lethbridge, Alberta; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and his sister Irene Mahoney of Delroy, Ohio.

Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, his younger brother Roy, his older brother Walter and his beloved wife, Henrietta who passed away in 2009.

Besides his family, Lloyd was most proud of being a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years and his 62 year marriage to Henrietta. He was truly blessed.
