Official Obituary of
6/4/1923 - to - 7/11/2013
Lois Hann 1923 ~ 2013 Carried safely from the loving arms of her family to the loving arms of her Savior; Lois Jean Hann, cherished wife of the late Herman Hann, went on to her eternal rest November 7, 2013. Lois was born April 6, 1923 in Toronto, Ontario. She grew up in Hamilton with her six brothers and one sister. In 1947, she married Herman Hann and moved from the luxuries of the city to the beginnings of prairie village in Southern Alberta. She and Herman made a home in Nobleford and raised their six children there. Lois served in the United Church Women in Nobleford for many years. Wherever she was, Lois immersed herself in service, teaching Sunday school, volunteering in pastoral care, and crocheting hundreds of afghans to give away to newlyweds and new mothers. She served on the board of River of Life Church (formerly First Congregational) and as a working elder well into her eighties. In 2002, Lois was widowed, and in 2006, she moved to Columbia Assisted Living. Even in her declining health, Lois still served as she was able, reaching out to other residents of her home and aiding the church prayer chain, lifting up loved ones far and near to the Lord she loved so much. She is survived by her children Mac & Colleen Hann of Calgary and their children Derek (Melanie) and Lindsay (Michael); Martha & Monty Cahoon of Picture Butte and their children Scott (Rhia), Keith (Elisha), and John (Stacey); Marlaine & Emrie Strohschein of Olds and their children Jeffrey and Kathrin; Alex & Trudy Hann of Lethbridge and their children Heidi (Chris), Karen and Liesel; Fred & Jackie Hann of Sylvan Lake and their children Matthew and Samantha; Lorna & Jeff Gibson of Sylvan Lake; ten great-grandchildren; her brothers Bruce and Doug and her sister Olive, all of Hamilton, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband Herman and by her parents, Lillian and Clare Macdonald, and brothers Glen, John, Ross and Murray Macdonald. There is no greater legacy than leaving your family and friends with the knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Thank you, Grandma. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the River of Life Community CHURCH. A private family interment was held prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridges of Hope International Development Network PO Box 81 Stn Main, Lethbridge, AB T1J 3Y3.
