ELIZABETH F. HALE of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late F. Earle Hale, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2011 at the age of 92 years.

Born in Montreal, Quebec, Elizabeth attended McGill University in Montreal. She was an internationally competitive fencer, representing Canada in the 1948 Olympic Games, and the 1950 British Empire Games.

Elizabeth was married to Earle Hale for 34 years before his death in 1987. She returned to McGill for her Master of Library Science (1976 - 78) and worked as a rare book librarian and consultant for the Macdonald Stewart Foundation for many years, initially at Le Vieux Fort Ste. Hél
