John Haarman 1944 ~ 2013 John Haarman, beloved husband of the late Nel Haarman, passed away suddenly at the age of 68, on April 25, 2013. John was born and raised in the Netherlands, he spent seven years working as a ships carpenter in the merchant marines, and seen many different countries in that time. He moved to Canada in 1967. In 1973 he married Nel, and together they operated a construction company till they started a dairy farm in the Shaughnessy area in 1979. In 2001 they moved to a small farm near Diamond City where he resided until his passing. He kept busy with his sheep and positions on various boards and committees. John is survived by his children; Gerrit and Julie (Shaelyn, Cari, Alexa and Kaden), David, Annemarie and Jan Willem Van Garderen (Katy, Tristan, Lena and Opal), Willianne and Shane Trotter (Kayla, Tyler, Brandon, Tiegan, Brody and Addison), Michelle and Matt Avey (Tyson and Myla) and John Peter. He is also survived by his mother, AnnaMaria Haarman, and brothers and sisters, Teun (Coby), Willy Bos, Dicky (Henri) Kleiboer, Mieke Haarman (Bert), Corrie (Wim) Krijt, Jaap (Willy), Pieter (Jannie) , all of the Netherlands. He is also survived by his in-laws Bill (Nellie) Bezooyen, Tine Grisnich, Maaike Oudshoorn, Corrie Goedhart, Gerrit Schipper, John (Jenny) Bezooyen, Gerrit (Teresa) Van Bezooyen, Henk (Carla) Van Bezooyen, and Margaret (Hank) de Kok. John was predeceased by his dear wife Nellie; father, Gerrit; father and mother in-law Gerrit and Willempje Van Bezooyen, brother in law Jaap Bos, brother and sister in-laws, Krijn and Chris de Leeuw; Willi Schipper; Floor Van Bezooyen; John Grisnich; Martin Oudshoorn; and Pieter Goedhart. An opportunity to offer condolences will be given from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Picture Butte, 601-3a Street South, Picture Butte. The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Picture Butte, with Reverend P. Bazen officiating. Interment to follow in the Picture Butte Memorial Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made to the Bethesda Care Home, Box 1096, Picture Butte, AB T0K 1V0.
