April 24, 1917 ~ March 5, 2008

DORIS LORRAINE GOUGHNOUR of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Marvin Goughnour, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the age of 90 years.

Doris was born on April 24, 1917 in Bow Island, AB to Bertha and Murray Hanna. She attended school in Barnwell, AB. On November 9, 1938 Marvin and Doris were married. They took over the Goughnour family farm at Enchant, AB, where they remained until 1967 when they moved into Lethbridge, AB.

Mom was an avid gardener; her yard and roses were her pride and joy. Hobbies such as needlepoint, ceramics and knitting kept her busy. She also enjoyed bowling, golf and playing pool. She remembered fondly the many trips and camping with family and friends. While living in the city, she also found time to work in various retail shops. In 1996, she moved from her home into the Gardenview Lodge, and then in 2007 she moved into the Golden Acres Lodge.

Doris is survived by her children, daughter Maureen Larson of Lethbridge, AB; sons Curtis (Laraine) Goughnour of Lacombe, AB and Bill (Bonnie) Goughnour of Kamloops, BC; grandchildren James (Marj) Larson of Enchant, AB, Janice (Brent) Bowyer of Saanich, BC, Gary (Tracy) Larson of Lethbridge, AB, Krista Rechner, Jillayne (John) Douglas and Derek Goughnour all of Lacombe, AB and Brent Goughnour (and special friend Lara) of Kelowna, BC as well as eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Muriel Hanna of Picture Butte, AB, Betty Hughes of Lethbridge, AB and Shirley Schinnour of Pine Lake, AB; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fonda Hanna of Lethbridge, AB, Marion Hann of Picture Butte, AB, Rosalie (Del) Hanna-Homulos of Lethbridge, AB, Rae Goughnour of Lethbridge, AB, Del (Terry) Goughnour of Etobicoke, ON and Dean (Maureen) Goughnour of Lethbridge, AB, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Doris was predeceased by her husband Marvin in 1989 and her son-in-law Leonard also in 1989. She is also predeceased by her parents, five brothers and five sisters.

The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Smuts and the staff at Golden Acres Lodge. You have become like members of our family, and we will be forever grateful for your compassionate care of Mom.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00pm on March 14, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Elizabeth Brown, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Enchant Cemetery at the family's request.
