Official Obituary of
10/2/1932 - to - 13/6/2007
MURIEL REBECCA GOSLIN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the Claresholm General Hospital, with her family at her side at the age of 75 years, beloved wife of Mr. George Goslin of Claresholm.
Muriel was born at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton. The daughter of a United Church minister and his wife, they lived in Riverdale, Edmonton, Elk Point, Ogden and Calgary. Muriel lived in Edmonton until her marriage to George in 1950. George worked with the Air Force and in 14 years the couple moved 20 times settling in Claresholm in 1964 where they raised their family.
Music filled Muriel's life. At one time she taught 60 piano students a week, lead mixed choirs in Fort MacLeod and Claresholm, and also served as the church organist in Fort MacLeod. She served as chair for the Baptist Women's Ministry for many years, was a life member of the Women's Missionary Society and also United Church Women's life member. She served as superintendent and leader of the CGIT also leading camp counsel and alumni. Muriel led Vacation Bible School and served on the board of the 50 plus group. Aside from church work, Muriel enjoyed sewing, knitting, copper tooling, needle work, stitchery, embroidery, felt work, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, nurturing her flowers and entertaining family and friends. Sports also played a part in her life. Muriel cycled (the old style bike!) until 1994. She loved camping, traveling, swimming skating, baseball, badminton, tennis and dancing. Every morning, without fail, you would find her doing her stretching exercises. She was also the family historian, planning family reunions every year and always finding time to write letters and remain the family optimist. Her bubbly personality was shared with many, always including those less fortunate.
Besides her loving husband George, Muriel is survived by her daughter Patricia (Russ) Luke of Leduc and Mary Ellen Goslin of Okotoks; son Sam (Eileen) Goslin of Claresholm; granddaughters Mary Beth Luke of Leduc, Rosa Lee (Tyler) Jodoin of Lethbridge, Christina (Sheldon) Rogers of Sherwood Park and Suzanne Riemann of Sherwood Park; grandsons Robert Luke of Ontario and Joseph (Leticia) Goslin of Rosemary; great-grandchildren Jessica, Karen, Alen, Jayden and Justin; as well as her brother Reverend Ralph (Bess) Marshall of Edmonton. She was predeceased by her parents Samuel and Rosa Marshall.
The family would like to extend a heart felt thank you for the wonderful care Muriel received from the doctors, nurses and staff at the Claresholm General Hospital.
Always remember Mom with a prayer on your breath, a song on your lips, a homemade cookie in your pocket and the love of the Lord in your heart.
