Mrs. Hazel Goodell of Lethbridge, beloved mother of Bonnie de Beaupre and Brenda Alkerton, passed away peacefully at St. Therese Villa on February 20, 2026, at the age of 84 years.

Hazel was born in Dauphin, Manitoba, to William and Matilda Smylski. Her life led her to Chilliwack, where she worked as a receptionist at the YM-YWCA for almost 40 years. In her spare time, Hazel loved to take care of her family and enjoyed helping others.

Hazel Goodell is survived by her daughters, Bonnie de Beaupre and Brenda (Herb) Alkerton; grandchildren Nick de Beaupre, Jeremy Phinney, Dustyn de Beaupre, Olivia (Chris) Talmage, Bryce Goodell, Hannah Alkerton, and Harley Alkerton; brother Alfred Smylski; and great-grandchildren Rebecca Phinney and Elora Talmage.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Matilda Smylski.
