The family of Mrs. Irene Gerard sadly announce her passing on Monday, December 3, 2018 at Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge, Alberta.

Irene was born in Sandy Lake, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1937. During the early 1970’s, Irene relocated to Picture Butte, Alberta, and married her life companion Henry Gerard on February 21, 1957. She raised her family and they both remained in the Picture Butte community until their health required further care.

Irene was a daughter, sister, aunt, wife, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and friend. She had a passion for her old country music, travelling back to Saskatchewan, cooking and being surrounded by her loved ones.

In November, 2017, a diagnosis of Stomach Cancer was added to her list of health problems. Her loved ones were gifted with a symptom free year, and her amazing strength was seen by all who loved and cared for her.

Irene is survived by one sister Rema Cronk of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; her children; Janice Generaux of Picture Butte, Alberta, Adeline (Cliff) Gerard of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Blanche Gerard of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Marvin (Teresa) Gerard of Shaughnessy, Alberta, Kelly Gerard of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Marlene Gerard of Lethbridge, Alberta, Peggy Gerard of Taber, Alberta, Tammy of Lethbridge, Alberta, and Henry Gerard Jr. (Jenine) of Lethbridge, Alberta.

She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers, one sister, her loving husband, Henry; three sons Jerry, Arnold, and Allister; five grandchildren Roland, Kimberly, Michael, Dennis, and Patrick, and daughter in-law, Roberta.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 5:00PM and 8:00PM, on Monday, December 10, 2018, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4P3.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM, Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 4P3, with Reverend Steven Bateman officiating.

Interment to follow in the Royal View Cemetery.

A feast will follow the interment at the German Canadian Club, 902 6 Street North, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1H 1Y2.
