MR. MERRILL COLIN FARRIES of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Muriel Farries, passed away at St. Therese Villa on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the age of 92 years.
Merrill was born in Purple Springs, Alberta and was brought up on the family farm in Del Bonita, Alberta. He served in the military for two years in Ontario. Merrill married Muriel Robinson in 1944 and they started their family in Del Bonita. In 1963 they moved to an irrigated farm in Rolling Hills and then in 1966 moved to Lethbridge where he worked various jobs. They spent many summers camping at Pine Lake and Lost Lemon in Blairmore, Alberta. Merrill was active in the United Church, the Reform Party and loved to watch the Hurricanes.
Merrill is survived by his children Leanora Vandervoot, Bryan (Julia) Farries, Blaire (Janet) Farries, and Cindy Reynolds, 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and sister Phyllis Baceda.
Merrill was predeceased by his wife Muriel in 1999, granddaughter Jacqueline, great-grandson Jesse, and brother Harold.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CAHPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Brenda Kersell, officiating.
