ROBERT JAMES FAIRFIELD, beloved husband of Anne Fairfield, passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Care Centre on Wednesday, February 6, 2008.

Jimmie was born in Huxley, Alberta on June 9, 1915. After graduating from high school in Edmonton, Jimmie worked at a number of outdoor jobs, where he developed his lifelong love for the Alberta wilderness. Jimmie enlisted in the RCAF in 1940; he served three years as a flying instructor, another year overseas and retired as a flight lieutenant in August 1945. Before establishing his own business in 1962, Fairfield Appliances, Jimmie was employed by Taylor, Pearson and Carson as a purchasing agent. Jimmie always pursued a number of interests: square dancing, flying aerobatics and ultralights, gold mining and working at his property in Gladstone Valley near Beaver Mines.

Jimmie was predeceased by his parents David and Jane Fairfield and his siblings Jack, Violet and Bella. Besides his loving wife of 65 years, Anne, Jimmie is survived by his children David, Judy (Terry) Hasinoff, Robert and his granddaughter Erin Hasinoff (Matt Weiner).

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving and sensitive care provided by all the caregivers at St. Michael's Care Centre, who made Jimmie's last year comfortable.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, February 11, 2008 at the SOUTHMINSTER UNITED CHURCH, 1011 - 4 Ave South, with Reverend Lois Punton and Reverend Frank Lewis officiating.
