It is with sorrow that the family announces the passing of Maybelle Erickson on April 25, 2007 at the age of 94 in Good Samaritan, West Highland. Maybelle was born in Venn Sask. Though she was born in a farming community her parents had other expectations for her and she attended Boarding School at an early age, later acquiring her Teaching Certificate at Normal School in Saskatoon. She taught school in the Venn Region until her marriage Dec 29 1936 to Egner Erickson. They settled in Young, Sask., where their two children, Gary and Shiron were born. In 1947 a fire destroyed the family business prompting a move to Alberta and Maybelle resumed her teaching career. She was a dedicated teacher and continued teaching in the region for the next thirty years, retiring to care for her husband whose health was then failing. Though teaching was a major focus in her life most important to her was the nurturing and caring for her loved ones.

Maybelle is survived by her daughter Shiron (Bill) Smith of Vernon, her son, Gary Erickson of Lethbridge, granddaughter Tracey (Dave) Erickson-Driscoll, grandsons Bradley (Pam) Erickson, and Gregory (Michelle) Erickson of Edmonton and great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Hailey, Layne, and Tristan, as well as nieces and nephews.

Besides her loving husband Egner, Maybelle was predeceased by her parents Anna and Charles, infant brother Leonard, sister Esther, and brother Lorne.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Monday April 30, 2007 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610-4th St. S. Internment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
