Joyce Earl

Official Obituary of

30/7/1923 - to - 30/11/2008

JOYCE ""JOY"" EARL of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Clarence Eugene Earl, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the age of 85 years.

Joy was born July 30, 1923 in London, England, then moved to Aldershot in her teens. She joined the British Navy (WRENS), meeting Gene Earl (Cdn Army) on a weekend pass home. They were married in 1945. Joy immigrated to Canada as a War Bride in 1946, living at the beautiful Earl homestead near Smith, AB.

Joy's only son Terry was born in 1947, then in 1948 the family moved to Yellowknife where they lived and shared many adventures in various Northern locations for 30 years.

Joy & Gene moved back to the Smith area, then to Lethbridge where she resided until her passing. Joy touched so many lives along her Journey. She looked forward to the War Brides lunches, enjoyed volunteering at the LSCO Adult Day Program, & recently enjoyed story telling with the Mind Joggers at Nord-Bridge.

Joy's Family was the Love of her Life, enjoying visits & outings with her granddaughters, great-grandchildren, son & daughter-in-law. She was also very grateful for her 'Church Family'. Joy was a wonderful homemaker, gardener, seamstress, storyteller & an all-round delightful person to be with.

Besides her loving son Terry (Sandra) Earl, Joy leaves to cherish her memory; granddaughters Crystal Earl (Vern Turchyn), Deirdre Earl; great-grandchildren Kane, Dylan, Chloe Joy, Claudia and Brandon; sister and brother in England Pam (George) Press and Alex (Ilene) Fleming. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

Treasured memories of Joy will live on in our hearts forever.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm, on Monday, December 8, 2008, at LETHBRIDGE MENNONITE CHURCH, 4303 - 3 Ave., S., Lethbridge, AB, with Ruth Preston Schilk officiating.

Flowers are gratefully declined. Those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 207, 542 - 7 St., S., Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2H1, or to the World Wildlife Fund, 245 Eglinton Ave., East, Suite 410, Toronto, ON, M4P 3J1, 1-800-26-PANDA.
