Gordon Earl

Official Obituary of

23/9/1948 - to - 2/1/2009

Gordon William Earl of Lethbridge, Alberta, beloved husband of Bonnie Court-Earl, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2009 at the age of 60 years.

'Gordie' was born September 23, 1948 in Lethbridge, where he remained until the age of 22, before moving to England. During his time overseas he raised 3 children. Before moving back to Canada in 1991, Gordon had a successful 17 year career with British Airways, finishing his time there as head management accountant.

On June 10, 2000 he married Bonnie Court to whom he has been devoted for the last 8 1/2 years. Besides his loving wife Bonnie, Gordon is survived by daughters Janine (John) Smith, and Kylie Earl of England and son Piers (Tania) Earl of Lethbridge, grandchildren Catherine and Charlie Jackson-Smith and Abigail, Elizabeth, and Rowyn Earl, sisters Cathy (Al) Gibbs, Carol (Al) Isert, and brothers Jim (Patsi) Earl, and Rob (Diana Wolfe) Earl, and numerous nieces & nephews.

Gordie was pre-deceased by his parents Thomas and Bettie Earl, brothers Tom and Johnny Earl, and sister Shirley Liptak.

Gordon was an extremely warm and caring person, always putting others first and making everybody he met feel important. He worked side by side with his wife Bonnie as a partner at the Music Court Ltd. at Park Place Mall, where he contributed greatly in making the business a huge success. His knowledge and wisdom made him known to many customers, who often described him as a 'walking encyclopedia' and his ability to quickly calculate to five decimal places (IN HIS HEAD!) remained an astounding feat that always impressed the crowds.

Gordon and Bonnie shared life together at their home in Paradise Canyon. They enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling as well as walking their beloved poodles, Whitney and Celine.

Gordon was a very loving and sentimental family orientated man who adored his children and grandchildren. His family are proud to say that 2008 was his 15th year of sobriety.

Deeply loved and cherished by his wife and children, Gordie will forever be remembered as loyal husband, best friend, partner, Dad and Papa. He will be sadly missed by his entire family, living on in the memories of everybody who knew him.

Dad you are with us always and you live on in our hearts, minds and all that we see and do. We love you so much.

A Visitation will take place from 7:00 to 9:00pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2009 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 St., S., Lethbridge, AB. Internment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

His family would like to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Gordon in his final days by staff at both the Chinook Regional Hospital and St. Michael's Palliative Care Unit. Your kindness and care meant so much to us.

As an expression of sympathy, those wishing to remember Gordie may do so with a gift to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O Box 4500, Stn S, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 6K2 or to the Charity of their choice.
