Alice Dunk 1911 ~ 2013 Passed away on Friday, September 6, at the age of 102 years, Alice Mildred Dunk, beloved wife of the late Forest Dunk of Warner. Alice has been away from her home at Warner for several years, having made the decision at age 94 to seek an easier environment in Lethbridge. She lived first at Blue Sky Lodge and moved later to the Golden Acres Lodge which offered additional care. There she celebrated her 100th birthday but shortly thereafter suffered a broken hip which left her confined to a wheelchair. Since then she has received excellent care from dedicated supportive staff at Fairmont Extendicare. Alice was born June 26, 1911 at Duluth Minnesota, and at the age of three, moved to the Warner district with her parents Myrtle and Frank Coombs. Warner was her home for over ninety years. She attended Warner public and high school, was married to the love of her life in 1930, and moved to the family farm in the United Prairie district east of Warner. After farming for 43 years and raising a family of three, Alice and Forest retired to the village of Warner in the 1970's. Alice was predeceased by her husband Forest in 1989; an infant daughter Lois Marie, in 1932; her eldest son Sherman, in 2007; her son-in-law Ron Watmough in 2008; daughter-in-law Lil Dunk in 2011; one grand-daughter, Jennifer Hill; one great grand daughter, Santanna Watmough; and all three brothers, Ben Coombs of Brooks, Bill Coombs of Ottawa and Dean Coombs of Taber. Surviving are one daughter, Ethel Watmough of Lethbridge; one son, Elton (Carol) Dunk of Edmonton; eight grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. Also left are one sister, Goldie Dickson of Vancouver; and four sisters-in-law: Kaye Coombs of Brooks; Judy Coombs of Ottawa; Lois Dunk, Shelby, Montana; and Velma Peters, Hemingway, South Carolina. In accordance with her wishes, mother will be cremated and there will be no funeral. She has asked for a Graveside Service, which will be at Warner Cemetery on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:00 am. Should you so wish, memorial donations may be sent to Warner Cemetery, Box 223, Warner, AB, T0K 2L0, or to a charity of your choice.
