With great regret, we announce the death of JAMES (JIM) DOYLE of Picture Butte, Alberta, who died peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on April 2, 2010.

Besides his loving wife Deirdre, he is survived by his children, Eoin, Fionnuala and Siona (Francis), his cousin Fr. Frank Doyle S.J. of Dublin, his sister-in-law Catherine Doyle of Ballyford, Ireland, and his sister-in-law Eithne Lee and her family of Dublin Ireland. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth and his siblings Joseph, Helen and Stephen.

Jim was born in Dublin, Ireland on February 12, 1925. He qualified in medicine at University College, Dublin in 1950 and practiced as a surgeon and lecturer in anatomy for some years. He married Deirdre Geraghty in 1958 and immigrated to Canada the first time with 3 small children in 1972. He practiced in Drumheller, Fort Macleod, and Vulcan before settling in Picture Butte in 1981 where he practiced medicine and surgery. He loved the outdoors, camping, gardening, bird watching, and scuba diving. He also loved playing old timers hockey before learning to skate properly.

Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at ST. CATHERINE'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue North, Picture Butte, Alberta, with Deacon Ray Wagner, officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at at ST. CATHERINE'S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 762 Crescent Avenue North, Picture Butte, Alberta, with Father Tomy Manjaly, celebrant.

Interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, Alberta.
