ALFRED (DES) GHISLAN DESROSIER Lieutenant (RET) RCAF of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Judy Desrosiers, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the age of 70 years.

Alfred was born on August 9, 1937 to Leo and Vicky Desrosiers in Amqui, Quebec. When he was six, the family moved to Windsor, Ontario where he received his education. Al (or Des) as he came to be known in the Canadian Armed Services, joined the Princess Patricia Light Infantry in 1954 at the age of 17. He re-mustered to the Royal 22nd Regiment (Vandoos) in 1955 and served with them for 5 years. In 1960 he re-mustered again to the RCAF where, after training, he became Loadmaster on C-130 Hercules transport aircraft with 435 Squadron Air Transport Command, Namao Alberta, a position he served in for most of his career. He excelled in all his courses and his position and traveled to most countries in the world. After retiring in 1978, he became a letter carrier for Canada Post until 1998. He also served the Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 2296 in Lethbridge as Commanding Officer and attained the rank of full lieutenant before completely retiring from the Armed Services. Al was a long term member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00pm and 8:00pm on Monday, January 28, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL. Cremation to follow. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Mountain View Field of Honour.
