Mary Davy
Official Obituary of
1/8/2007 - to - 26/10/2007
MARY PAULINE DAVY, beloved wife of the late Peter Davy, passed away at the Chinook Regional hospital on Monday, October 26, at the age of 86.
One of Mary's greatest joys in her life was the time spent with her husband. Together they enjoyed dancing, camping, gardening and attending Jamboree's throughout southern Alberta. For many years they were among ""snowbirds"" who travelled to Arizona. It was there that Mary tapped into some of her artistic talents. She took painting lessons and continued to paint for many years. A number of friends and family have her pictures hanging in their homes. Mary's deep love of animals, especially cats and horses were prevalent in her paintings. Prior to moving to the Shaughnessy community, Mary lived in the Grand Prairie area. Again, known for her artistic abilities, she would decorate wedding cakes. Many brides in the area were blessed with her creations.
Since the passing of her husband, Mary spent a lot of her time working on puzzles. Her trips to the Park Place mall would find her always checking to see if any new puzzles had arrived, especially ones with horses. She also enjoyed having coffee or lunch at Smitty's. A special thank you to the staff at Smitty's restaurant who always made her feel welcome.
Mary is survived by daughters Eleanor (Garry) Harrison, Dina (Mike) Wolansky, son Walter (Joan) Pol, step daughter Shirley Swartzenberger and step son Gordon Davy. Grand children Darlene (Garry) Keeping, Lorie Matheson, Shawnna deVries, Dawn (Dan) Retel, Eugene (Juanita) de Vries, Tanis (Darcy) Fletcher, Shannon Kierstead, Sheldon Harrison, Gaylene (Darcy) Yelenik, Klinton Johnson, step grand children Cheryl (Garry) Gudmundson, Lorna (Bernie) Wyrostok, Judy (Mike) Schimanski, Rod (Brenda) Swartzenberger, and Wayne Koyata, sixteen great-grand children and thirteen step great-grandchildren. Mary was predeceased by husband Peter in August 2007, daughter Mary Ann Johnson in March 2003 and her infant son Elbert.
