HYMIE (HY) DAVIDS, passed away peacefully on February 24. Hy was the beloved husband of 65 years of Minnie (Mickey), dad of Harvey (Margaret-Rose), Ken (Sheila), Barry, Beverly (Harvey) Silverstone. He was much loved Zaida of Ian, Rebecca (Jon Rogers), Ryan (deceased), Danielle (Michael) McGhan, Jennifer (Roy) Pennock, Sean, and David and Marty Silverstone and Great Zaida of Ben and Emily Rogers and Arianna Pennock. He is survived by his brother Dave, sister Doreen (Gorlin), brother-in-law Maurie Silver and sister-in-law Vivian Sharkey. He was predeceased by his parents (Abe and Ida) and sister Evelyn. He was loved by his adopted children and grandchildren of the Rose (Henk) Kuizenga family and Dienie (Arie) Schalk.

Hy was a longtime resident of Lethbridge. He (with his parents) ran the Star Meat Market and Bakery across from the No.1 Firehall. During the war, Hy served in the RCAF. Hy has been the president of The Lethbridge Hebrew Congregation for many years and an active member of B'nai Brith and the Jewish War Veterans.

He was a wonderful family man and a loyal friend. He was a great fisherman and loved playing cards with his family and friends, winning right to the end.

Services will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, February 26, 2009 at THE BETH ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE, 915 -15 Street South, Lethbridge with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery, 12 St and Scenic Drive South, Hebrew Section.

The family wants to thank ""our angels"" at The Bridges Program, Lethbridge Community Care, Lethbridge Family Services, Living Healthy Life Styles, Drs. Strank, Hunt and Shields, and all the doctors and nurses that were with us during Hy's final days.

Shiva (visitation) will be observed at #129, 110 Scenic Dr. North, Lethbridge Thursday evening, and Friday until 4 pm. and will continue in Calgary at 731 Willamette Dr. S.E Saturday evening, and Sun-Mon from 2pm - 9 pm.
