Helene Dahoe

Official Obituary of

1/1/1967 - to - 29/3/2021

Helene Sewoatsri Dahoe of Lethbridge (AB), beloved wife of Komlan Dahoe, suddenly passed away in Lethbridge on Monday, March 29, 2021, at the age of 54 years.

Helene was born in January 1967 in Aného (Togo).  During her childhood, Helene preferred Ghana to Togo and moved to the maternal family home in Ghana, where she stayed with one of her Aunts.

Helene spent most of her life in Ghana, where she met and married Komlan Dahoe. And after spending 17 years together in Ghana, where Helene kept herself busy with many activities (fishing, farming, trading, prayer meetings), she moved to Canada with Komlan, their children and grandchildren and settled in Vancouver, BC, in 2008. Two (2) years later, Helen moved from Vancouver to Lethbridge, and the rest of the family moved to join her in Lethbridge in that same year.

In Lethbridge, Helene was an active member of the Lighthouse Church Community, recently renamed United Denominations. As such, she always had programs on the go, cooking, baking, online prayer meetings, Bible studies, counselling and serving others. Her door was always open to welcome company for Bible studies.

Helene played a crucial role in her children and grandchildren's lives as she always offered to babysit her grandkids so that her children and daughters-in-law can work and do their daily activities without stress. She always treated her grandkids to shopping and trips in the zoo and included them in every one of the prayer camps she attended, and she was loved by so doing. Helene made sure her family is united and promoted peace among the family members wherever she was.

Helene was the ultimate caregiver. She took good care, not only of her kids and grandkids but also of her siblings. For instance, in 2015, Helene did not hesitate to move her sick brother from Montreal to Lethbridge multiple times to take good care of him.  She also helps in her best ability those in need, and she was always ready to go the extra mile to make people that she loved happy. Such a trait made everybody that knows Helene call her Mama, meaning "mother" in Ewe (local Togolese language). Helene, the Mama of us all, will be dearly missed by her family, church, and the Togolese community here in Canada and in Africa.

Besides her loving husband, Komlan Dahoe, Helene is survived by her two (2) Daughters, Blessing and Juliette Dahoe, her five (5) Sons, Koami, Tony, David, John, and Joe Dahoe.

Helene is also blessed with nine (9) Grandchildren: two (2) from her daughter Juliette, three (3) from her son Koami and daughter-in-law Asata Dassin, two (2) from her son Tony and daughter-in-law Mary Aglago and one (1) from Joe Dahoe.

Helene is the firstborn of six (06) siblings; two (02) younger sisters- Ida and Odala; three (03) Brothers -Peter, Kodjo, Kola and she is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and their families.

Helene Dahoe is predeceased by her mother Ayélé AMAH (October 1995) and Father Charles Kpoti Sewoatsri (June 2000).

A private Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, on April 23, 2021.

A short private Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 24, 2021, followed by the Interment at Royal View Cemetery.
