Cameron Conway

Official Obituary of

14/4/1943 - to - 2/9/2008

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Conway Robert Cameron on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at the young age of 65 years.

Conway was born April 14, 1943 in Pincher Creek, Alberta to John (Hugh) and Joy Cameron. He started his education in a one room country school in Hillsboro, then continued in Pincher until going to Mount Royal College and SAIT where he completed his Refrigeration & Air Conditioning training. Conway started work at Fedor's Refrigeration & Air Conditioning. He later became a partner in Alcon in 1971. He married Phyllis Lester on July 13, 1968 and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary with family. Conway took a step closer to retirement when he sold his shares and began working for several local companies. In 1998 he established ""Con's Refrigeration"", allowing him to still dabble in the business. Conway was an active member of St. Augustine's Church, serving as warden, vestry and sidesman; playing in the handbell choir and doing general ""odd-jobs"". He recently volunteered with the Great Canadian Plains Railway Society and Operation Red Nose.

Conway loved spending time at Beauvais Lake with his family and having coffee with the guys at the El Rancho. He could often be found in his chair in front of the TV, watching the news, Jeopardy or sports, reading the paper or taking a nap. Conway could talk to anybody and always remembered a face, where they worked, and with whom they were related. He was everybody's buddy and thought the best of everyone. Although Conway was blessed with 3 daughters, he was happy to acquire 3 sons-in-law. He was later blessed with 5 grandsons and 1 granddaughter to play with, to fix things for, to take fishing and to babysit. Conway also enjoyed spending time on his sons-in-law's farms, discussing investments, playing pool and watching soccer from the sidelines. He loved to putter away with on-going projects like his grandchildren's broken toys, house repairs or mechanical jobs needing his special attention. He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather and friend to all those that had the honor of knowing him. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Conway (also known as ""One-way"") is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; daughters Robyn (Scott) Henderson, Susan (Dale) Mehlen, Kelly (Neil) McCullagh and six grandchildren Jack, Ryan, Spencer, Easton, Aisling and Ronan. Conway also leaves sister Bonnie (Gordon) Bell; brother Jimmy (Marie) Cameron, Aunt Faye Trodden, sisters-in-law Mary Atkinson and Eleanor Lester, cousins, and nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00pm, on Friday, September 5, 2008, at MARTIN BROS. RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 St S, Lethbridge, AB.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00, on Saturday, September 6, 2008, at ST. AUGUSTINE'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 - 11 St S, Lethbridge, Ab., with Canon James Robinson and Canon Allan McCuaig officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

Flowers are gratefully declined. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 207, 542 - 7 St. S., Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 2H1 (which Conway canvassed with for years) or to the Memorial Fund at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, 411 - 11 St S, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 2N9.
