KAREN MARIE BROWN

April 8, 1941 - May 8, 2012

Born to William Edward Christensen and Harriet Oneta Christensen, on April 8th, 1941, KAREN MARIE BROWN passed away on the morning of May 8th. She will be hosting a posthumous party and final farewell in Lethbridge at a time to be announced shortly.

Preceded in death were her older brother Bill, and his wife Donna, whom Karen loved very much. Karen leaves behind two sisters, Cindy and Kerri as well as two brothers, Ken and Bob. They know in their hearts that Karen also loved them. Among her most beloved is Ronald Meldrum, who now mourns her loss with us.

Karen is also survived by her four children, and her grandchildren: Angela and Daryl Helfrich (Justin, Matthew and Amy), Robert and Laurie Brown (Riley and Kelsey), Bill Brown and his wife Rhonda, and Barry and Kai Brown (Eddie).

By living hard and following doctor's orders only as it suited her, Karen managed to finally wear out her body at the age of 71. Throughout her life Karen made it clear that she would abide by the law as God intended, and by no-one else's. She set an example for many to follow - or not, but she harmed no one, and stewarded her children safely and responsibly to adulthood before living out her retirement years without bosses, without politics, and without fear.

Among the many of Karen's attributes, the most outstanding one was her mental toughness. Karen always used her mental strength to live life her way, and always offered her unconditional love with complete faith in people's goodness. She was not afraid to trust people. Karen loved all creatures, and she gave of herself to everything around her. She loved plants, animals and of course, she loved people. Her home was always full of life because for her, life and love were one and the same.

Karen was the person who could bring the lowest and the highest, the most humble and the most arrogant, the most opposite or the most equal types together. She could do this without judging anyone. Regardless of success or failure, Karen doggedly searched for reasons to dispute intolerance and to demonstrate love and respect for all. Karen was the embodiment of love, and for that she was most deeply loved back, and will always be remembered.

A Celebration of Karen's Life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4th Street South, Lethbridge, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating.

Interment will follow at Archmount Cemetery.
