Glynn Brooks

Official Obituary of

22/6/1938 - to - 24/10/2025

It is with heartfelt remembrance that the family of Glynn Alexander Joseph Brooks of Lethbridge announces his passing on October 24, 2025, at the age of 87.  A beloved father and grandfather, Glynn’s gentle spirit and unwavering faith touched the lives of many.

Glynn was born in Lethbridge on June 22, 1938, the only child of Kathleen and Reginald Brooks. He grew up with a deep love for the outdoors, which he nurtured through hunting, backpacking, hiking, boating, and fishing. After graduating from high school in Calgary, Glynn was actively involved in the Boy Scouts of Canada, serving as a volunteer scout master and Camp Director at Camp Gardener, where he forever left a positive mark on those he mentored. His commitment to service and faith was evident throughout his life, and many lifelong friendships blossomed through his Scouting and church involvement.

Glynn worked for International Harvester from 1958 to 1960, before joining the Calgary Police Service from 1960 to 1964. In March 1959, he met his loving wife Donalda in Calgary; they married on April 9, 1960. Together, they raised two sons in Calgary—Cam (Jodi, granddaughter Brynn) and Blaine (sons Ashton and Kaden)—and shared countless cherished memories.

Throughout his life, Glynn’s passion for the outdoors and his entrepreneurial spirit led him to numerous pursuits, including managing fuel stations, farming, and running the Cee-der Chalets near Canmore with Donalda, which they operated with love and dedication. The family’s moves took them to Wainwright and Edmonton before settling in Lethbridge, where Glynn became General Manager of the Canadian Cooperative Wool Growers. Later years saw Glynn enjoying the tranquility of his hobby farm near Park Lake, Alberta, where he raised sheep, cattle, goats, and chickens, finding peace and joy in farm life for nearly 30 years.

Throughout his life, Glynn's strong faith was a guiding force; he and Donalda were active members of the First Baptist Church in Lethbridge, participating in Bible studies and church life until their passing. Glynn’s legacy lives on through his family—his sons Cam and Blaine—and the many lives he touched through his quiet kindness and faith-based service.

A small family Graveside Service will be held at Mountainview Cemetery. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Legacy Lodge in Lethbridge for their compassionate care.

In honor of Glynn’s life, donations may be made to Canadian Baptist Ministries, 7185 Millcreek Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L5N 5R4 (905) 821-3533. Glynn will be forever loved and remembered.
