Doris Blacker

Official Obituary of

1/7/1915 - to - 22/5/2007

It is with great sadness, the family of Doris Jessica Blacker announces her passing from this frail earth on May 22, 2007. Doris was born on July 1, 1915 and shared her birthday with Canada for the next 91 years. She moved to England with her mother at the tender age of 3 months. She was baptized into the Christadelphian Faith on December 29, 1929.
After the death of her mother in 1934, Doris returned to Canada. On August 23, 1936, she married James (Jim) Blacker in Edmonton and they subsequently moved to Lethbridge where they raised 4 boys. In 1991, Doris was predeceased by Jim.

In 1996 she moved to Gardenview Lodge where she resided until September of 2004 when her health deteriorated. She was then moved to the Adaptacare Home on 11thAvenue South where she was very happy and content until her passing.

Besides her enduring faith in God and the return of His Son Jesus Christ, Doris loved music. She was an organist with the Christadelphian Church in Lethbridge for several years and was a founding member of the Lethbridge Symphony Choir and the Golden Mile Singers. Her favourite time of the year was during the Kiwanis Music Festival. She would make several daily trips to various venues to listen and lend support to her own family, neighbours kids, doctors kids, and you name its kids.
Doris always made time to visit people that were sick or disabled and always made an extra effort to take some baking and visit some individuals that did not have a family to support them.

Left behind to celebrate her life are her four sons, Don (Doreve) of Victoria, B.C., Richard (Loreen), of Coaldale AB., Norman (Tina) of Edmonton, AB. and Randy of Lethbridge, AB.

Their families include several Grand-children and Great-Grand-children
Heart-felt thanks go to staff at Lethbridge Regional Hospital as well as to Drs. Johnson, Pratt, and McPherson for their diligent care of Doris for several years.

A special thank you to Bonnie and the staff and residents of Adaptacare who provided a caring and loving home to Doris for the past 2 1/2 years.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6:00PM and 8:00PM on Sunday, May 27, 2007 at MARTIN BROS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 - 4 Street South, Lethbridge.
