Official Obituary of

17/3/1941 - to - 18/4/2023

Mrs. Sandra Sue Baceda of Lethbridge, beloved wife of the late Mr. Remo David Baceda, passed away peacefully at her loving home, on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the age of 82 years.

Sandra was born in Lethbridge on March 17, 1941, to the late Peter and Norma Shologan of Coaldale where she attended school in her young adult life. She worked for years at the Alberta Sugar Company and then finally at the Lethbridge Community College where she taught classes and worked in the data terminal until retiring. Sandra loved music and was an excellent accordion player. After high school, she played on weekends in a variety band, and that’s where she met the love of her life Remo, it was a true love story. Sandra’s hobby was art, and she took many classes in various mediums. She volunteered much of her free time in various places and was a member of the Southern Alberta Art Gallery.

Sandra travelled extensively, and also spent many springs and falls in beautiful Fairmont Hot Springs. She loved her yard, flowers and bird watching. Sandra often attended plays, operas and loved to watch figure skating. Her favorite music was classical and jazz. She dearly loved her family, nieces and nephews, and was lovingly referred to as “Auntie San”. She would do anything for her family and friends. A very generous person with compassion towards others. She always greeted you with a welcoming smile. A beautiful soul who touched many people’s lives with her never ending kindness. She was dependable and forthright. Sandra’s intellect was only superseded by her smile and unconditional love. She will be missed dearly.

Sandra is survived by her son Craig Baceda; daughter in love Donna Chomiak (Baceda); nephew in love Derek Chomiak; sister in love Melody Shologan; nieces and nephews Mark (Joanne) Shologan, Tara (Doug) Wenstob, Keith (Anna) Shologan; Joan Coppieters, Merri Noel Coppieters and her children, Adam Coppieters; Owen Coppieters McMillan, Kieran Anthony Coppieters -McMillan; Sean Coppieters and his daughter Bonnilyn Sage Coppieters; grand nieces and nephews Mark and Joanne’s children, Lee & Faith; Keith Shologan’s children William, Samuel, Benjamin, August, Matthew; Tara Wenstob’s children Cassie, Haylee, Jayce and Cole.

Besides her beloved husband Remo, Sandra was predeceased by her parents Norma and Peter Shologan; brother Patrick Shologan; and sister Bonnie Coppieters.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
