Ila Anthony

Official Obituary of

7/2/1966 - to - 28/4/2020

Ms. Ila Anthony of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Palliative Care Centre on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the age of 54 years.

Ila Ileana Anthony was born February 7, 1966, in Pincher Creek Alberta To Ruby Parry and Donald Parry. Ila grew up in the Waterton/Hill Spring/Cardston, Alberta areas, with her Father Donald Parry, Stepmother Freda Parry, Brother Sean Parry, and sister's Yvonne Archibald, Sandy Keller and Cathy Pearse, as well as her sister Tammy and later on in life finding out about her sister Julie Vanghel and brother Doug Unruh.

Ila’s love and passion for horses started at a young age, and as she would say, no matter how many times a horse knocked her off she would get right back up on it. She competed in many horse shows, and was an active member of the 4H club, where she enjoyed public speaking. Ila really enjoyed learning and later moved to Lethbridge Alberta to go to school at the Lethbridge college for accounting. Ila got married in 1984 to Patrick Anthony where they went on to have two children, Roman Anthony in 1985 and Kendyl Anthony in 1987.

In about 1999 Ila found a new passion for motorcycles and joined a group called Steel Horse Charities, a motorcycle group that would raise money for the Lethbridge Canadian cancer society, and every year that she was a member of the group she would run from the Lethbridge Canadian cancer society out to Coaldale where they held their Rally's. Another one of her greatest passions was baking, and cake decorating, where she was extremely talented at it to. She worked many different jobs but then Ila went on to work for Adaptacare where she earned her certificate for health care aide, she loved helping people, so this career was perfect for her.
In 2009 Ila's health took a turn for the worst, and was hospitalized for 6 months and a year later was diagnosed with Scleroderma, and would require 24 hour care. Losing her Independence was hard for her, but in her true nature she would smile and not let that get her down. During her journey of scleroderma, she was most at home at ECCC where she liked to volunteer at the Tuck shop and lived in St. Mike's where she felt like she was part of a family.

Ila's health got the better of her during her last week, but even then, she kept positive and kept on smiling and offering everyone comforting hugs and advice! Ila passed away on April 28 at 1:06 pm in her room at St. Michael’s Health Center, in the palliative unit. She was surrounded by her Son Roman, and Daughter Kendyl as well as her Brother Sean, and Sisters Yvonne, Sandy and Julie. She fought until the very end, she was a fighter, she was small but mighty, she's our Hero, and now, she is our beautiful angel! Ila was survived by her Mother and Father, all her brothers and sisters, her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, and many other friends and family, and we cannot forget animals that meant so much to her.

Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.

A Celebration of Ila’s Life will be held and announced at a later date.

Ila's family asks that instead of flowers and gifts, to please make a donation to Scleroderma Canada in honour of Ila Anthony. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/43619, be sure to select "in memory of" before completing the donations, thank you everyone!
