Kathleen “Gill” Anderson

1930 ~ 2018

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, Mrs. Kathleen Gillian Anderson, beloved wife of Mr. Lloyd Anderson, on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 87 years.

Better known as Gill (with a “G”), she immigrated to Canada from England after achieving her nursing certificate at St Mary Abbots Hospital in London, and later her midwifery qualifications. After working in London, she obtained employment in Canada at the Carmangay Hospital, where on arrival she met her future husband, Lloyd, on the train station platform in Lethbridge. They lived and farmed East of Carmangay for fifty years, raising four children. Afterwards, they retired to the Sierras Condos where Gill enjoyed socializing with her new and old friends. She volunteered for the condo social committee and spent many hours reading, listening to classical music and knitting toys for the Chinook Regional Hospital.

She will be greatly missed by her husband Lloyd; children, Carolyn (David) McCluskey, Simon Anderson (Rolanda Richard), Nancy Anderson and Stephen (Betty) Anderson; granddaughters, Kiana and Kaitlin McCluskey; relatives in England, as well as many other family members and friends.

Many special thanks to Aunt Doreen and Mom’s friend, Pariel, for spending so much time visiting with Mom and supporting her.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00pm, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at ST. AUGUSTINE’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 411 - 11 Street South, Lethbridge, AB., with Reverend Steve Bateman, officiating. Inurnment was held in the Bowville Cemetery.
