Muriel Alder

Official Obituary of

1/1/1933 - to - 28/5/2019

Mrs. Muriel Alder of Abbotsford, formerly of Champion, beloved wife of the late Mr. Bruce Alder passed away peacefully at the Oxford Seniors Care Centre in Abbotsford, BC on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

Muriel was born to Bill and Sadie Jackson on January 1, 1933 in Kirkaldy, Alberta. A few years later, the family moved to Penticton, BC area. As a young woman she worked at the Penticton School. In 1954 she went into the ministry until 1960, then in 1961 she married Bruce Alder on July 14th and together they lived on a farm in Champion. Leaving the farm for a few years they moved to Panorama Ridge in Surrey, BC. They then moved to Kelowna where they lived until 1968, when they came back to Champion to help with seeding, harvesting and the building of a new farm with Gerald and Dianne. In 1977, they decided to make Champion their permanent home. Muriel farmed with Gerald and Dianne until 2003 when she moved to the resort west of Innisfail. She helped out there until 2012, when she moved to Red Deer. Her health started to decline, and she needed more care, so she made the move to the coast, where she resided until her passing.

Grandma Muriel loved her family dearly, and above all, she loved the Truth. She was a very faithful sister in Christ, and she had a very large correspondence with the ministry all over the world.

Muriel is survived by her step-sons Fred (Verna) Alder, Delbert (Bev) Alder, Gerald (Dianne) Alder; grandchildren Monty Alder, Cameron Alder, Robin Alder, Lori Schultz, Denise Veitch, Sharlyn Alder, Colene (Shaun) Hagen, Laurel Alder ( Lisa Carlson & Amber Alder), Kevin (Tina) Alder, Kyle Alder; sisters Ruth Shannon, Tessie (Ron) Davies, and brother Edgar (Wendy) Jackson.

Besides her loving husband Bruce, Muriel was predeceased by her parents Bill and Sadie Jackson; brother Wilbur Jackson; grandson Kent Alder and brother in law Jim Shannon.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at 12:00pm, on Friday, June 7, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Friday, June 7, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Michael Moulsen, Audrey Robbins and Mildred Lindquist, officiating. Interment will follow in the Champion Cemetery.
