Peggy Marjorie Lane (nee Wooderson), beloved wife of the late Roy Arthur Lane, passed away on September 5, 2019, at the age of 96 years in Lethbridge Alberta.
Peggy was born in London, England to Thomas Edmund Wooderson and Daisy Lillian Wooderson (nee King) where she lived until marrying Roy in 1945. Peggy was very artistic and wished to study art but was persuaded by her mother to train as a teacher, first in London, then evacuating to Durham to complete her studies during World War II. There she met and roomed with her lifelong friends Dorothy, Sadie, and Joyce, and pursued her passion for art as a hobby. While teaching in London after the war, she married and came to Canada as a war bride. After living in several locations in Canada, including Vidora, Saskatchewan, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and a ranch in southern Alberta, Peggy and Roy settled in Lethbridge to raise their family. Here she turned her artistic pursuits to gardening, creating an oasis on the prairies, painting the garden with broad strokes of colourful flowers, and also was a talented seamstress. In addition, Peggy was a wonderful baker. No dinner was complete without an array of desserts and she was renowned in her family for her apple pies.
Peggy is survived by her daughters Marjorie (Fred Andrews), Carol (Brian Kasper) and Patricia (Stephen Bell) and her grandchildren Matthew and Michael Bell.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm, on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 – 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Pastor Rodger Halvorsen, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
