On Saturday, December 8th, the world suddenly and without warning, lost an incredible man.
Ken Newinger was born on November 5th, 1954 to parents Mervin and Trudy Newinger. Ken grew up with his brother Merv (Sheila) Newinger and sisters Pat LaValley and Deb (Tim) Coolidge. There are many family stories of Ken which might have led you to believe he was a bit of a trouble maker (instigator) as a young man! He loved to tease, joke and laugh and this laughter will be so greatly missed. He took a while to find the perfect match, but for the last 21 years he shared his life with “the best thing that ever happened to him (his words)”, his loving wife Joanne. Ken had a special fondness and love for Joanne’s son Corey and his wife Ryan. He was especially excited to become a Grandfather to twin girls due March 2019. He had already talked about how to enrich their lives with tales of life with their Grandma. Ken loved spending time with family and friends. Besides his loving wife Joanne and siblings, he will be greatly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and youngest sister, Deb.
Ken was never one to stay idle; he mastered many trades including Journeyman Cabinetmaker, Motor Mechanic and Journeyman Plumber/Pipefitter. He loved his Harley Davidson motorcycles and in his bachelor days was known to often be building one in his living room! At the time of his passing, he had almost finished his latest pride and joy. Ken loved the outdoors and could often be found on the lake fishing, out hunting or spending time at the cabin in Montana. Ken really enjoyed leading tours of Montana on his Harley and rode on many trips to Sturgis for the bike rally every August.
Ken faced many health challenges in the last 18 years, but he never let that define who he was. He lived his life on his own terms with respect, kindness and love.
Ken will always be remembered for being a hard worker, helping hand and having a love of family, friends, animals, children, a good joke and a cold beer.
Ken did not want a funeral but instead, he wanted his friends and family to gather together to celebrate his life with a party.
Ken's life Celebration party will be held from 2:00-4:00PM on December 28, 2018, in THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN TURF CLUB, Top of the Grandstand, 3401 Parkside Drive South, Lethbridge AB T1J 4R3.
Everyone who knew & loved Ken is welcome to attend.
