Hung Du

Mr. Hung Du passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Sunday March 17, 2024 at the age of 94 years.  Hung was predeceased by his loving wife Tai Che on February 16, 2003.

Hung was born in Dongxing town, Fangcheng county China on January 13, 1930.   He was raised in a large family of 8 siblings in the southwest of China.  He attended school but left at a young age to help on the farm. 

In 1945 Hung moved from China to Vietnam with his parents and siblings due to the civil war in China.  He was married to Tai Che in 1951 in Vietnam and where they had nine children – 4 daughters and 5 sons. Along with his wife, Tai Che and their children, they built a successful farm operation over the three decades.  In 1978 Hung and his family fled Vietnam, among the many who faced prosecution by the newly established Vietnam Communist Government as the newly established Vietnam Communist government started to confiscate Chinese owned property and businesses after 1975, back to their home province in China. Hung and his family continued to farm in China.

In 1987 Hung and his family moved to Lethbridge Canada.

Hung worked at a restaurant in Lethbridge until his retirement.

Hung is survived by his eight loving children: Daughter Han Giang Du (Zhang Huang), son Han Cai Du (Hai Giang Wong), son Han Nang Du (Tu Anh Bang), daughter Lien Han Du (deceased) (Xay Va Ho), son Han Fang Du (Yu Chai Feng), son Ricky Du (Tac Phan Ho), daughter Stephanie Du, son Han Toan Du (Li Mo), and daughter Jenny Du.  21 grandkids, and 25 great grandkids and counting…

Hung will be dearly remembered and missed by many!

    All are invited to a Memorial Service that will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 27th, 2024, at MARTIN BROTHERS RIVERVIEW CHAPEL, 610 4 STREET SOUTH, Lethbridge, Alberta.
