Dragoslav Jurišić passed away peacefully on the morning of Sunday, September 4th, at the age of 93.
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, he is survived by his cherished wife Rose; children Danilo (Irena) and Nada (Joe); grandchildren Jelena, Arel (Erika), and Isabel, his great-granddaughter Lily, and numerous beloved close friends and family.
Affectionately known by many as Lalika, he lived a long and fascinating life, as chronicled in his autobiography, Displaced. He was an avid chess player and polyglot, a lifelong lover of literature, and a skilled writer. He was a professor of linguistics, Spanish and Russian at the University of Lethbridge, and continued pursuing his love of history and language until the very end. His last years were spent writing, travelling, and playing bridge with his wife and best friend Rose.
His creative wit and constant pursuit of knowledge were enthralling to everyone who knew him, and his memory will continue to influence and inspire his loved ones for the rest of their lives.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am, on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at THE ASSUMPTION OF THE HOLY VIRGIN ORTHODOX CHURCH, 907-9 AVENUE NORTH, Lethbridge, Alberta with Father Anton Ciobanu, officiating.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
