Daryl Dunsmore

Daryl Dunsmore of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Karen, passed away suddenly at home on Friday, February 24, 2023 at the age of 73 years.

Daryl was born in Brooks, Alberta, on March 23, 1949, the middle of 7 children born to Sandy and Jessie Dunsmore. He spent his childhood in Scandia and Vauxhall, and married Karen in 1973. Born and raised in Southern Alberta, he spent the majority of his career working in the oilfield. Daryl enjoyed slo-pitch and hockey in his younger years, where he earned the nickname "Smoky" - a name he was known as by many friends and family. Later in life, he also continued to enjoy curling and golf.

Daryl was a loving father, and his grandchildren were the absolute light of his life. He was always quick with a smile and a joke or two, and his easy-going personality had him loved by many.

Besides his loving wife, Karen, Daryl is survived by his two daughters, Alyson Dunsmore, and Melissa (David) Russell; granddaughter Emily Russell and grandson Gavin Russell; three sisters Sharon Bailey, Darlene (Glen) Birney, and Linda Dunsmore; one brother Jack (Marie) Dunsmore; brother-in-law Elmer Cook; sister-in-law Sandy (Glenn) Becker; sister-in-law Kim (Carey) Sulz; sister-in-law Shelley Barnard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Daryl was predeceased by his parents Sandy and Jessie Dunsmore, his in-laws Dennis and Connie Wilford, grandson Aiden Russell, brother Jim Dunsmore, sister Sandra Cook, brother-in-law Bill Bailey, niece Kerrie Dunsmore and nephew Robert Bailey. 

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at MCKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 15 Ave S, Lethbridge, Alberta, with Reverend Trevor Potter, officiating. To watch the service via livestream, please go to  www.mckillopunited.ca/funerals.
