Mr. Charles Edgar Innis of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Kathleen (Kay) Innis passed away at St. Michaels Health Centre on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the age of 91 years.
Charles was born and raised in Kenville, Manitoba where the family farmed. It was here where Charles went to school and then began working on farms in the area. He became a heavy-duty equipment operator for various companies clearing land for farming and building roads across the prairies. He met Kay Connelly and they were married in 1962 at Swan River, Manitoba where they raised their family. In the late 1970’s they moved to Coaldale, Alberta where he continued road construction work as a grader until he retired to a small farm outside of Magrath where he enjoyed puttering with cars and farming. Charles was a gentle, quiet soul and enjoyed the quiet country life. Charles loved his family and grandchildren. Those who knew him respected him for his work ethic, his genuine kindness, and his warm welcoming smile. He will be missed by all of his family and many friends.
Charles will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathleen (nee Connolly); daughters, Laurel (Dave Kirby), Leslie (Garry Kasner), Michelle Innis; grandchildren, Spencer (Sarah) and Scott Kirby, Krystine Gordon (Brody), Jeremy Kasner (Gianna), Mark Kasner, Nicole Loewan (Kieran); great grandsons, Charlie, Vance and Cohan.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, George Bell Innis and Ruby (nee Cox) of Kenville; 3 brothers, John, Bruce (Vi), Bill (Peggy), and two sisters, Alice Phillips and Ester Foster.
Due to Alberta Health’s gathering restrictions, a private Memorial Service will be held in Charles’s honor at a later date.
