It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Catherine Van Lent announces her peaceful passing on Saturday, October 26, 2019 after a brief but heroic battle with cancer.
Cathy will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family and friends. Her level of strength, courage, dignity and positive attitude is an inspiration to all her family and friends.
Cathy dedicated her life to creating a wonderful home and life for Jerry and Garrett. Cathy and Jerry shared 39 incredible years together building a very special bond of love and commitment for each other that was beautiful to see. Cathy’s greatest joy is their son Garrett, who Cathy always called her “Little Boy” even though he towered over her at 6’3”. She was always extremely proud of her “Little Boy”.
Cathy loved growing plants and according to Garrett she didn’t just have a “green thumb” she had a “green arm”. Cathy absolutely loved riding behind Jerry on the back of their Harley; often times being so comfortable she would fall asleep. They created many special memories cruising down the road together.
Cathy was a person of great wit and humor, she had a charming way of adding a smile and good laugh to any situation. Her compassion was evident throughout her life, her concern for others shone bright.
Cathy will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jerry and Garrett extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the many relatives and friends for their heartfelt support and love shown them and Cathy over the past several weeks.
A Memorial Mass in Cathy’s honour will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, November 1, 2019 at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, Coaldale, Alberta, 1513 – 23 Avenue, Coaldale, Alberta, with Father Ian Gagne, Celebrant.
Cremation entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
