EDWARD “TED” MALINSKY

1952 ~ 2018

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce Ted William Malinsky, passed away suddenly at his home, in Coalhurst, AB., on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the age of 65 years.

He was born September 18, 1952, in Taber, AB., to Bill and Gladys Malinsky. Ted enjoyed the simple things in life, fishing, hunting, camping, and making deer sausage (Smoking it, etc.) He loved our many nights of playing cards with our good friends and going for car rides with the grandkids and to go see our little man play first year of hockey in Red Deer. He loved us going for walks, before the knee and hip problems started. One of our favorite things that I will miss dearly is going to Dairy Queen on Sunday, sharing an order of fries with extra chilli and reading each other the trivia from the ‘Coffee News’ and our daily ice capps jaunts to Lethbridge.

Ted was a go to man, recently retiring from the University of Lethbridge, after 29 years, at the end of February 2018. He was the equipment repair maintenance man ... loving what he did and being able to help out any way he could.

Family and friends that knew Ted called him Uncle Ted. We have many friends that we have had a privilege of knowing, that call him that. Little sister, you were like a daughter to him. Some called him Ted, some called him Teddy, some even crossed that thin line, calling him Teddy Bear. I called him Hon or Sweedo but the most important name was Grandpa. Grandpa’s routine of picking up girls after school was a highlight of many of his days, being able to ask the girls about their day and getting hugs when dropping them off at their mom’s work. Going to Red Deer to visit family and friends, our little man and Chewie. Also - R2…new to the family.

He had a complete hip replacement in August of this year and we were both very excited being able to look forward to getting out more, going for walks and even possibly going for bike rides again and going fishing. He loved camping, especially when we took the girls and meeting up with family to have week-ends of fishing, camp fires and of coarse, smores.

He is survived by his loving wife Val of 29 years, his children, grandchildren, his brother in-law Cyriel, and nephew Victor (Shannon) and family. He’s the proud father of Shawn Malinsky (Tabatha), Darcy Malinsky (Jodi), Brett Malinsky (Kortnee) and their families; step father of Jayson Bacho (Kara), Janis Jodoin (Matt), and their families. He was an extremely proud grandfather, they were the light of his eyes.

Ted was predeceased by his parents, his sister Dorothy and her son Jeremy, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and nephew.

You will truly be missed by and fondly remembered in our thought, our dreams and in our hearts.

Love you Hon
