Terry went to high school in Atikokan, Ontario and then completed his heavy-duty mechanics studies in 1972, in Toronto, Ontario.

He enjoyed a double rum, dancing and soaking up the sun on the beach. He also found joy in keeping a meticulous yard full of flowers, trees and a garden. Terry collected and played the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and accordion. His grandsons will always treasure strumming their guitars with Papa.
