Steven Stirling Obituary

Creston lost one of its most cherished souls on February 4, 2024, with the passing of Steven Gary Stirling at the age of 55. Steven's life was a testament to resilience, joy, and the power of genuine kindness.

Born on August 13, 1968, Steven embraced life with a vigor that inspired all who knew him. His indomitable spirit shone brightest in the arena of sports, where he soared as a Special Olympics champion in floor hockey, bowling, and baseball. From Vancouver to Kamloops, and even to Newfoundland, Steven's athletic prowess was celebrated, leaving a legacy of triumph and sportsmanship.

Beyond the realm of sports, Steven's warmth and thoughtfulness endeared him to countless hearts. His remarkable memory, never failing to recall a name or birthday, reflected his genuine care for others. Summers spent camping with his beloved parents in Koocanusa were cherished moments where Steven's presence illuminated the campground, his friendly demeanor making him a beloved figure among campers.

In his professional life, Steven found fulfillment as Paul's right-hand man at "Make Your Mark Woodworks" woodworking shop in Creston. His dedication and skill in his craft were evident to all who crossed paths with him, as he poured his heart into every piece he crafted.

Steven's infectious smile was his trademark, a beacon of joy that lit up every room he entered. His parents, Perry and Rose, fondly recall his mornings, where his waking moments were greeted with a smile that radiated warmth and happiness. To know Steven was to be uplifted by his unwavering positivity; his father, Perry, aptly sums it up by saying that if you ever needed cheering up, Steven was the person to turn to.

Steven's departure leaves a profound void in the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Steven is survived by his beloved parents, Perry and Rose Stirling, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, his girlfriend Kathy Schmidt, his caregivers Deanna Ward and Navee Hopkins, and a multitude of friends whose lives he touched deeply. Steven is predeceased by his brother Trevor Stirling (1978).

While Steven may have bid farewell to this world, his legacy of love, compassion, and resilience will forever be etched in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his memory continue to inspire kindness and joy in the lives of others, keeping his spirit alive for generations to come.
