Shirley Huzil of Lethbridge, passed away after a lengthy battle of cancer at St. Micheals Palliative Care Center on September 4, at the age of 77 years.
Shirley was born on March 14, 1946, in Timmons, Ontario to Barbara and Frank Roberts. She lived there until the age of 5 years old, until her family moved back to England, where she spent the next 4 years of her life until they moved back to Ontario to stay. She loved to travel and took many trips in her lifetime. She then married at the age of 20 and had her two children Barb and Sean. In 1978 they moved to Lethbridge, Alberta where she would spend the rest of her life.
Shirley was a true Sci-Fi nerd. She loved everything sci-fi and fantasy which she passed down to her son, and then to her two grandchildren. They all would count the days until the next Marvel movie came out.
Among her many passions, gardening was one of her greatest. She shared this passion with her daughter Barb. She loved her vegetable gardens as well as her strawberry patches and would make strawberry jam every year. Sitting on her deck and looking out into her yard and gardens was her most happy place. But her greatest love of all was her children and grandchildren. Shirley was extremely proud of her family and boasted about them every chance she could. Shirley will be dearly missed by many. She touched the lives of so many.
A special thanks to the Palliative team at St. Michaels. Thank you so much for taking such good care of our mom!
Shirley is Survived by her daughter Barb (Ernie) Bajraktarevic; son Sean (Corinne) Coffey; grandchildren Drake and Jordan; and sister June Roberts.
She was predeceased by her brother Mike Roberts.
