Ms. Masako Mako Tani, of Lethbridge, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2022 at the age of 77 years.
Mako was born in Takamatsu, Japan on June 2, 1944. The Tani family later moved to Osaka where most of them still call home. At the age of 22 she married Roy Fletcher, a native Albertan.

She also greatly enjoyed spending her time with people of all ages, from teaching Japanese at the LCI for over 10 years, being a long time member of the Nord-Bridge Senior’s Centre and though a lifetime of learning and shared experiences with singing, drumming, dancing, woodworking, pottery and more. Mako is survived by her sons Robert, Kenneth and Richard, grandsons Owen and Ethan, brothers Hideo and Toshiyuki and sister Taiko and their families.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lethbridge & District Humane Society.
