He attended school in Granum but left at a young age to help on the farm. He had a love of all things mechanical and worked many years as a truck driver for E.M. Brooks Transport. In 1964 Ken started working for Alberta Gas Trunk Line where he remained until his retirement in 1992. During those years he also worked alongside his brothers in the trucking industry starting Hoglund Brothers Trucking. Ken and Bev started their married life in Fort Macleod where they had four daughters. They then moved to the DeMaere homestead for a short time before moving to Woodhouse where they had two more daughters. In 1964 they moved to the Crowsnest Pass for two years then returned to Fort Macleod to their forever home. Ken loved camping, dirt biking and snowmobiling in the Dutch Creek area, something he continued to enjoy well into his 80’s. He loved being with family and spent many a summer holiday with them, always including at least one of his treasured grandchildren, to Sandpoint, Lac des Iles, Saskatchewan and Vancouver Island.
