Jodi " Tasha" Bennett Obituary

Our dear Natasha, beloved wife of Rae and loving mother to Conner, passed away in Calgary at the age of 43, on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. She faithfully and bravely battled with her health problems for many years as a loyal servant of Jehovah.

Natasha was born in Calgary, on June 18, 1977 as Jodi Lynn Wolf Child. At nine weeks old, as a little baby of 6 pounds, 10 ounces, she was adopted by her loving parents Ken and Reta Anderson on August 18, 1977, much to the delight of her older brother Duane.

Natasha attended Tofield school from kindergarten through to grade twelve. She graduated early so she could attend Marvel college that February, graduating the 5th of November, 1995, as valedictorian. For those who knew her, it’s not surprising that she was loved and appreciated by all her instructors at Marvel college. Tasha was known as a talented hair stylist, even coming in 3rd place, in all of Alberta, at the “New Talent” hair competition.

Moved by her deep love and devotion for her God, Jehovah, she symbolized her dedication to Him on July 6, 1991. With a strong desire to serve Jehovah more fully, she gave up her full time job at House of Hair Design in Camrose, so she could work part-time from home. Tasha realized her goal to start her full time ministry, (called regular pioneering) in January 1999 and had the privilege of attending Pioneer Service School, the class of 2000. She actively encouraged all of the young ones in Tofield congregation to see the importance of putting the ministry first in their lives, motivating some to pioneer themselves when they were older.

Tasha didn’t only love to travel, but she had the desire to expand her ministry. She realized her dream of serving where the need was greater in 2004, when she traveled with three of her friends to Nicaragua. Those experiences really helped her to deepen her love and reliance on Jehovah, and gave her a zealous “pioneer spirit” that she never lost, even when her health limitations prevented her from doing as much as she wanted in the ministry.

Tasha is survived by the love of her life Rae, just months short of 15 years of marriage, on September 9th. She is also survived by her son Conner; parents Ken and Reta Anderson; brother Duane; niece Cassidy (Johnathon) and great niece Sophia. In addition to numerous uncles, aunts and cousins that will miss Tasha as well. She was predeceased by her birth-mother, Martha Wolf Child and her birth-father, “Smoky” Edwin Wells.

Tasha always said a very important time in her life was when she first saw baby Conner’s two big brown eyes at three weeks old, then she knew he had to be her boy forever. They had him from 14 months and were finally able to make Conner’s adoption official on November 29, 2012. Just seeing Conner had made Tasha want to be a mom and “her boy” added to her happiness daily.

Tasha was known for her positive outlook on life, her contagious laugh, witty-jokes, and a strong desire to help others. She always looked for the good in others and was able to draw people out of their shell. Tasha loved people and was always surrounded by family and friends. Her Bible-based hope helped her to look forward to the time when God will resurrect those who are asleep in death to an Earthly paradise. (Acts 24:15) Until that time, we will fondly remember Tasha and all of the beautiful memories she gave us.

An online memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 4th, 2020 via Zoom (online). The cremation has already taken place.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society.
