It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Joanne Gyorffy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter.
Joanne was born and raised in Lethbridge. She was the 3rd oldest of 8 children. Joanne met her husband Victor while working at a coffee shop at the greyhound bus station. They moved to Coaldale a few years after their marriage.
Joanne is survived by her mother Norma Firth, husband Victor, sons Jason and Jamie (Danielle), grandsons Lukas and Blake, siblings Shirley Miechkota, Diane Feist (Cam), Ron Firth (Brenda), Brian Firth (Karen), Bill Firth (Susan), Dwayne Firth (Georgina), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father Edwin Firth and sister Sharon Wilkie.
Joanne loved fiercely and knew the value of a friend. If you were lucky enough to be loved by her you could count on a nightly phone call to check in. She was generous with her time and volunteered at many community events in Coaldale. She was a town of Coaldale employee for over 25 years.
Joanne was a truly special grandmother to her two grandsons. She was always finding unique ways to brighten their day.
No funeral will be held at Joanne’s request. A celebration of life will take place on Sunday, May 15th, 2022 at the Coaldale Kinsman Picnic Shelter, 16 Avenue and, 23rd St, from 1:30 PM - 4:30 PM.
Cremation has been entrusted to Martin Brothers Funeral Chapels.
